5:52a - Five Things Make A Post - So I'm Told
The folk who read Analog probe taste, elitism, the 'death' of short fiction, and rediscover the wheel and fire... as we all do, time and time again.

As serious plus, a key factor for being published in Asimov's is revealed spoiler warning )

And I didn't know that Analog was the best selling of the Big 3.

I've been thinking about a piece of embroidery. White muslin/fine lawn (depending on if you're English or American) made as a handkerchief with a detailed, possibly pictorial whiteworked border, probably with cutwork and needlelace, to show the layer behind. The central area with shadow-work, and embroidered with the words from a poem. Oh yes, and the handkerchief showing creases from being held tight balled, and possibly marked with tears and a drop or two of bright fresh blood.

Of course what I should be thinking about is something a little less... subtle and literary :D

It's the little things annoy me most... so yes, the six day headache is not good (it took a long enough break for me to think I was good to go to the bead fair on Sunday... during which I restarted it -- not wise but fun, and I'm big into not wise but unregretted) but what's with the sudden dry and chapping skin just over and on my top lip? Or the lump in the second joint of the middle finger on my left hand that I've had for months but which has got hard, pointy, and really painful to the touch? And the occasional wheezing sound from my lungs, when I'm not having any cough and spit problems?

Bah.

Anyway, I was getting a few worthwhile digs in on Innocent -- which is, I presume, why I've all the symptoms of neat and perverted short story in my head. I think it may be called 'Crime of Passion'... (because 'Seven Year Itch' is a little too twee and girlie sounding) and it's SF (the bad touch stories almost always are). I have no idea what the name of the lead character is, but he's a copper (apparently his name is Alec) contemplating doing something desperate. I'm fairly light on names, oddly enough. I know there's a doctor they call Kavorkian and one arc is about tracking down a serial rapist turned serial murderer. The other is about sex, death, and taboos. It'd be fun if I could remember how to write SF and the bits I know fit together at all :P
